OVERLAND PARK, KS (Feb 17, 2016) —  123 teams from 22 states participated in the 2016 U.S. Youth Futsal National Tournament in New Century, Kansas February 12-15. 18 teams were crowned as National Champions.

Ambassadors FC Pittsburgh qualified for the tournament by winning the Regional Championship in Akron with a 6-3 win over ABK U16 Boys. Both teams made the trip to Kansas for the National tournament.

The Ambassadors team won their group stage with a 6-6 tie vs Sporting KC Academy, a 6-4 win vs Roadrunners SC 2000 Premier, and a 4-3 win vs Five Guys and a Futsal. They faced ABK U16 Boys Academy in the semifinals in a rematch of the regional final and prevailed with a 5-2 win to face Sporting Blue Valley Pre Academy 99-00 Navy. The final game proved to be a highly contested battle with goals back and forth between the two teams. Ambassadors took the title with a final score of 6-4, completing a long and amazing futsal season.

The players dedicated this season to their former coach, Lenny Muckle II, who died suddenly at age 32 after guiding the team to the U15 boys regional title last year. What a blessing Lenny continues to be to those that knew him. Congratulations, AFC Pittsburgh U16 boys team!
